Our Coaches
FSCO Professional Staff
All FSCO coaches are Rated members of the Professional Skaters Association of America (PSA) and have diverse competitive skating backgrounds. Our staff teaches group, tots and hockey classes year-round, as well as one-on-one private lessons with the more competitive skater. Each club professional is an “Independent Contractor” and all scheduling arrangements for private instruction must be made directly with them. Andrea began her 18 year coaching career for the Figure Skating Club of Omaha. She continued on to coach in Cleveland, OH and at the Indiana/World Skating Academy in Indianapolis, IN. She has successfully coached skaters through their USFS gold medals and Regional, Sectional, and National level competitions.
As a rated coach through the Professional Skaters Association, she holds a Master Rating in Moves in the Field, a Senior Rating in Freestyle, and a Certified Rating in Group Instruction. She coaches beginner through senior level and adults in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Choreography, Group, and on and off-ice conditioning.
Before her coaching career, Andrea was a competitive skater for FSCO, attaining Regional and Sectional level competition in freestyle. Andrea has also received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Creighton University in 1995.
John grew up in Vancouver, Canada, competing in both singles and pairs (with his sister) from 1979-1988 at the national level. In addition to winning the Junior Pair title in 1983, they also represented Canada internationally at Junior Worlds, as well as other competitions in France, Germany and Russia. John is also a quadruple Gold Medalist in Figures, Freestyle, Pairs and Dance.
After retiring from amateur competition in 1988, he performed in a number of ice shows, including Disney on Ice and Ice capades, as well as various theme parks in the U.S. and overseas, as a soloist and an adagio pair skater. Since 1998, John has coached in St Louis, Detroit, Iowa and Colorado, with students of all ages from beginner through the Gold level. He has also partnered both pair and dance tests, as well as doing choreography for shows, tests and competitions.
Megan started skating here in Omaha at the age of 12. She started with the Learn to Skate Program and began to volunteer with FSCO a few years later. Megan earned an apprenticeship by the age of 18, and by 2002, she became a coach with FSCO. Megan has been involved in a variety of shows and competitions, including competing in Adult Nationals in 2009. As of this date, Megan is a gold medalist in Field Moves, has passed her Intermediate Freestyle, and is working on her Silver Dances. Megan is also a member of the PSA, having passed her BA Exam as well as her Certified Exam in Sports Science.
Megan has also earned a Bachelors degree in Spanish with a minor in anthropology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Sociology from the same university. Megan is a preschool teacher at the UNO Child Care Center, as well as the colorguard choreographer for Gretna High School. She is currently accepting private students.
Lauren began her skating career here in Omaha at age six. As an amateur skater, she competed at various competitions and ice shows. She has also received her Gold Medal in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, and Ice Dance. She has been coaching Learn to Skate and Private lessons for the past few years.
Lauren is a full time student at Creighton University and is majoring in Exercise Science. She is a pre-physical therapy student and is also involved in various leadership activities at Creighton. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and US Figure Skating and has passed her Basic Accreditation exam. She has also passed all four of her Sports Science and Medicine exams as well as her Registered Group exam. She is currently accepting private lessons from competitive or recreational skaters.
Misty began skating in Omaha as the age of 12. As a teen and adult skater, she has performed in various shows and competitions in both singles and synchronized team disciplines, and is currently working on her Adult Gold tests. In 2006, Misty began coaching with the FSCO Learn-to-Skate program. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and holds a Certified rating in Group Instruction, as well as a Hockey Level I certificate.
Off the ice, Misty teaches in both the Millard Public Schools and the Omaha Parochial Schools. She earned her B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1997, and her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2000. Misty is currently accepting private lesson students.
Mindy began her coaching career here in Omaha over 20 years ago. She went on to teach in Minnesota, California, New York, and Michigan before returning to Omaha. As an amateur, she received her gold medal in Ice Dance. She also passed her Junior Freedance, Intermediate Freestyle, and 4th Figure tests. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and a Master’s in Education from UNO.
Mindy currently coaches Blades in Motion, Omaha’s synchronized skating team. She is accepting students for recreational and competitive skating.
